The print segment in the CEE, 2022

The print segment had a relatively strong year on a regional level with keeping its position on an average of 6% and also 6% in the overall spending. This doesn’t look as great when looking at individual CEE markets: in some countries it managed to keep its position, but in most of them, investments still decreased. Print titles give credibility to online websites, but they simply cannot be maintained: as Michaela Cunderlikova, Media Strategist and Planner at _CANMedia wrote in her article about the Czech market, despite publishers increasing the selling prices several times in 2022 due to inflation and increasing costs, several titles exited the market. A lot of magazines produced in Russia were delivered to the Baltics before the war, after this they all got banned along with Russian TV channels, leading to local Russian language titles increasing their circulations for the first time in 15 years.
