The Economic and Political Environment of the Media Market in Ukraine 2023
2023 marked the second year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the ninth year of the war overall. Despite the ongoing conflict, the Ukrainian economy has demonstrated remarkable resilience, supported by the valiant efforts of the Ukrainian armed forces, international assistance, and the unwavering determination of the Ukrainian people.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the country's real GDP grew by 5.3% in 2023. However, this positive growth should be viewed against the backdrop of 28% in 2022. The pace of recovery has been significantly hampered by Russia's persistent shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which, in late 2022 and early 2023, forced many businesses to rely on generators to operate.
