The economic environment of the media market in 2022, Romania
According to the Statistics National Institute, the Romanian economy has increased by 4,8% from 2021, less than the previous year (5.9%). In the meantime, the annual inflation continued to increase, reaching around 12%.
The purchasing power of consumers is influenced by global political and economic situations. The pandemic and the outbreak of war in Ukraine had repercussions at the level of supply and distribution of raw materials needed in industry and agro-food products on one hand, and also increased the inflation and prices.
Continued in 2022: the urban population with big purchasing power moved to metropolitan areas. Therefore, more and more Romanian TV stations extended their commercial targets, including these areas that are considered “rural” in Kantar Media audience study.
