The Economic Environment of the Media Market in Serbia 2023

It took almost a decade to fully recover from the local media investment decline following the 2008 recession, and we are now facing another global recession that might impact the slowdown of the economy and, consequently, media investments.

Even though leading economies are taking actions to turn this trend in a positive direction, the turmoil in Ukraine and global instability do not look promising so far. We have hesitant GDP and macro-economic indicators that create a relatively insecure investment environment.

The media market in Serbia in 2023 saw an estimated 7% overall growth, mostly driven by investments from the lottery, retail, and personal care categories. This growth throughout 2023 is significantly inflation-driven.
