The political environment of the media market in 2022, Serbia

Presidential, parliamentary and Belgrade elections were held on April 3rd 2022. The leading party, Serbian Progressive Party won elections again. A relatively stable environment for business, taking aside Kosovo issue, which is the main political, national, and international problem. Some media were criticized for being pro-Russian, such as TV PINK, and TV Happy. The government overall didn’t take a clear stance against Russian invasion on Ukraine. National state-owned TV station RTS has sometimes been criticized for media censorship. Overall there were no major legal changes that would affect the media market. New advertising law is being publicly discussed, and this new legislation is to be adopted soon.
