TOP 5 consumer trends in Ukraine, 2023

70% of the population engaged in volunteering

Ukraine has become one large volunteer center and everyone is trying to contribute to the victory.

Reduced purchasing power in conditions of war and devaluation of the national currency

The prices of goods have increased significantly due to difficult logistics, fuel price increases, and UAH devaluation in their own ways.

Increased demand for certain goods

Volunteers demand goods that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need – goods such as clothing and equipment, medicines, power banks, drones, generators, axes, shovels, and canisters. In addition, people are trying to store some canned or lasting food and there is a significantly increased demand of alcoholic beverages.

Changes in the car market

In conditions of general shortage and high fuel prices, the demand for electric transport and electric cars has increased. The used car market is also expanding. Due to the temporary cancellation of taxes on car imports, the automobile market is filled with affordable cars. People try to secure their mobility during the war. In addition, most of the cars are bought by the army.

Ukrainian instead of Russian goods

Ukrainians are not supporting Russian goods and brands that continue to work in Russia and Belarus. The demand for Soviet nostalgia is declining. Instead, the population chooses Ukrainian producers and it enables domestic small businesses to develop. There is also an increased demand for brands with a Ukrainian identity.
